Future Friday is a collaboration between Be Local Northern Colorado, and the Poudre School District (PSD). Future Friday is on September 14, 2012, the day before the Sustainable Living Fair. Future Friday, now in its fourth year, is a day dedicated to Sustainability topics and concepts for all students from Fort Collins area schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The theme of Future Friday this year is “Food Matters”.
We need your help to make Future Friday a success – help us fund this important educational opportunity!
Be Local will facilitate the pairing of local farmers, chefs and sustainability experts with local schools and will provide field trip opportunities for several schools to visit regional farms on this day. This one-day program highlights how essential food is in our lives. Every child must eat, so food is an excellent way to teach sustainability and the importance of choosing locally grown food.
In addition, PSD is committed to serving locally-grown produce in all school lunches on Future Friday, so that healthy local food is a feature of the program for every student eating school lunch.
