The Community Garden needs a fence to be able to continue providing organically-grown produce to the under-resourced in our community.
Who We Are:
We are volunteers at the community garden located at Vineyard Church of the Rockies, which has been in operation since 2011. We partner with a local nonprofit called The Growing Project to grow organic produce, all of which is donated to the Vineyard Resource Center. Since 2011, the garden provided over 1,500 lbs. of fresh, organically-grown produce to families in need in our community.
What We Believe:
So much of our health and well-being is dependent on the quality of food that we eat. Fresh, organic produce should never be a luxury for those who can afford it. We want everyone who benefits from the services of the Vineyard Resource Center to have access to fresh, healthy food.
What We Are Doing:
Thanks to the expertise of The Growing Project and the hard work of our volunteers, we are able to grow more produce than ever, which means more food for more families. We have also learned what the most popular vegetables are over the last few years and have catered what we grow to the preferences of the Resource Center clients.
We have invested in the long-term sustainability of the garden over the last few years; we have built a large compost bin and worm bin to make sure that the garden can be sustainable in the years to come. Our vision is to make it a children’s garden that can be used to teach children hands-on about environmental stewardship.
The problem is a threat gardeners know all too well…deer. We currently have a small rabbit fence and use natural repellent methods such as bloodmeal to keep the deer away, but we have found deer droppings inside the garden and we all know that one hungry deer can wipe out an entire garden.
What We Need:
We need a 6-foot fence to protect the garden from deer coming in and destroying our crops and some hardware for improving the drainage and irrigation system. A solid fence and reliable systems will ensure that we can provide as much free, fresh, local, organic produce to people in our community as possible through the Vineyard Resource Center. This expense was unexpected and not budgeted for at the beginning of the year and the church does not have the means to pay for it out of their budget.
But the longer we wait…the hungrier those deer get.
If We Exceed Our Goal:
If we exceed our goal, all additional funds will be used to continue improvements to make the garden sustainable and investments needed for the children’s education program.
How You Can Support Us:
We are asking our community to help us ensure that we can get as much produce to as many people (not deer ; -) as possible.
Here are 3 ways you can help:
1) Donate to our project – you can get an amazing reward in exchange for your donation (check out the rewards tab)!
2) Offer an in-kind reward to our project
3) Tell your friends about our project – if you can’t help us with money, please help us spread the word!
Thank you so much!!!

CF Update #2
We have made it to 39% of our goal! Thank you so much to all of you who have come along side us! Friends, we have 4 days to raise a little over $1000. I humbly ask for you support in our effort of continue investing in the Vineyard Community Garden. We also wanted to remind you that 10 businesses and individuals have donated items (“rewards”) to the project that can be purchased and all of the money will go to the project. Even if you can just give $10, a lot of people giving a little has a large impact. Thank you again!
Thank you so much!
All rewards are available at this time. YAY!!!
